Cardi B reportedly files for divorce from Offset

The hip hop couple secretly married in 2017.

Cardi B has reportedly filed for a divorce after three years of marriage to Migos rapper Offset.

According to court records obtained by TMZ, Cardi––real name Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar––filed the paperwork earlier this week in Fulton County, Georgia. The couple had married secretly in 2017 and share a child together. In the documents, Cardi is “seeking primary physical custody as well as legal custody” of their two-year-old daughter Kulture. She is also seeking child support from Offset, whose real name is Kiari Cephus.

Reports of the divorce come two years after the rappers initially faced trouble in paradise. In December 2018, Cardi publicly announced that the couple were calling it quits, saying then that a divorce might be in the pipeline. However, weeks later, Offset crashed her Rolling Loud Festival performance to beg for forgiveness. By January 2019, the pair appeared to have reconciled after they were spotted in Puerto Rico for the holidays, according to TMZ.

Last December, Cardi spoke about forgiving Offset in an interview with Vogue. In it, the rapper formally addressed her husband’s infidelity, saying that they were learning to work together to get through it. “A lot of people were so mad at me; a lot of women felt disappointed in me,” she said. “But it’s real-life shit. If you love somebody and you stop being with them, and you’re depressed and social media is telling you not to talk to that person because he cheated, you’re not really happy on the inside until you have the conversation.”

A hearing is set for November 4, TMZ has reported. Neither the rappers nor their representatives have addressed the news.

Cardi is currently gearing up for the follow-up to her 2018 debut album, Invasion of Privacy. The record is expected to include her raunchy Megan Thee Stallion-assisted hit, “WAP.”
