Buddy channels Malcolm X in video for “Black 2”

The sequel single to “Black,” his 2019 A$AP Ferg collaboration.

Buddy has delivered a thought-provoking video for “Black 2,” the sequel track to his 2019 collaboration with A$AP Ferg, “Black.”

In the video, co-directed by Buddy and Edgar Esteves, the Compton native channels Malcolm X and celebrates Black culture. The visual is also packed with references to the Black Panther Party, Spike Lee’s classic 1989 film Do the Right Thing and more.

“Everybody wanna be athletes / Everybody wanna rap on beats / Everybody wanna eat watermelon and fried chicken / Sorry, it’s a Black thing,” he raps. “Everybody wanna be Black, but don’t nobody wanna be a n***a.”

The video for “Black 2” follows Buddy’s visual for “Bad Boys,” where he and collaborator Kent Jamz put their own spin on several classic films. Earlier this month, Buddy teamed up with Lucky Daye on “Faces.”
