Big Sean and YG have shared “Go Big,” their contribution to Coming 2 America’s official soundtrack.
The song is a reflection of the film’s royal themes and fittingly kicks off with regal-sounding horns and rolling snares. While YG delivers an infectious hook, Big Sean steps in with braggadocious bars that manifests the luxury of kingship.
“I like views of oceans, free time don’t make no sense / Buyin’ a foreign with Pesos, I’m too real can’t play roles,” raps Sean. “Just payrolls, Jeff Bezos, and my bitch co-CEO / That’s bae goal, yeah / Never did anything that ever require a plan / Tried to humble myself and pretend I’m not the man, really, I am.”
Coming 2 America is the sequel to 1988’s comedy Coming to America, and follows characters King Akeem (played by Eddie Murphy) and his aide Semmi (Arsenio Hall) as they make their return to Queens, New York after Akeem is crowned king of the royal country of Zamunda.
“Go Big” is the second track to come off Coming 2 America’s official soundtrack following “I’m a King,” a collaboration between Bobby Sessions and Megan Thee Stallion. The soundtrack will arrive on the same day of the movie release on March 5, with the rest of the tracklist yet to be officially announced.
In September, Big Sean released his star-studded album Detroit 2. He has been featured in a slew of collaborations since then, having linked up with NLE Choppa and Jack Harlow as well as contributing a verse to the remix of Lil Wayne’s “Tyler Herro” off Wayne’s No Ceilings 3: B Side album.
YG, on the other hand, released My Life 4Hunnid in December. The 14-track record featured songs such as “FTP,” “Swag” and “Out on Bail.” More recently, he appeared on the remix of Ty Dolla $ign’s “Spicy” alongside J Balvin and Tyga.
