Big Sean teases new Twenty88 album is on the way

The rapper has a new project with Jhené Aiko in the works.

A new album from Big Sean and Jhené Aiko’s hip hop project Twenty88 is currently “in the works.”

The real-life couple made their debut as a duo in 2016 with their self-titled record. The album featured eight songs, including “2 Minute Warning,” a collaboration with K-Ci, Jojo and Detail (aka Noel Fisher). Sean had previously teased that a follow-up to Twenty88 was expected to arrive by 2017, after they both have released their own solo offerings. However, the much-anticipated album failed to materialize.

Now, in a recent Ask Me Anything (AMA) session on Reddit, Sean has reconfirmed that a new Twenty88 project is indeed in the pipeline. “It’s in the works :)” the rapper replied to a fan who wondered about new material from Twenty88.

Although Sean and Aiko have taken a hiatus from their joint moniker, the pair have since continued to release songs together. In 2017, the couple reunited on “OLLA (Only Lovers Left Alive)” and “Moments,” both of which featured on Aiko’s sophomore album Trip. Sean also later appeared on the R&B crooner’s 2019 single, “None of Your Concern,” which was included on her 2020 Chilombo album.

Aiko returned the favor last month by collaborating with Sean on Detroit 2 cuts “Body Language” and “Time in.” Earlier in the year, the pair teamed up with Ty Dolla $ign for the loosie “Single Again.”
