Big Sean returns with new single, “Overtime”

His first offering in two years.

The Don is finally back. Yesterday, Big Sean dropped off “Overtime,” the first follow-up to his 2017 solo album, I Decided

Produced by Key Wane, Hit-Boy and the Tucker Brothers, the song starts out mellow before it progressively becomes louder and even more distorted. The rapper goes off at the top of the track, setting the record straight about his imminent comeback. “You talking ’bout the hottest in the city, most influential rappin’ ass n***as and I’m the top one / Me and Em knocked down doors for y’all that was locked once,” he raps. Elsewhere, Sean reveals that he’s currently in “album mode.”

In an interview with Beats 1’s Zane Lowe, the rapper explained that his new record is a return to his rap roots. “I’ve just been getting back to having fun with it, you know what I’m saying? At one point I felt like it might have started to become like a burden, or like work, but now it’s just fun. So this is just me having fun, bro, expressing myself. It was a time well spent,” he said.
