Big Sean pays tribute to Nipsey Hussle in “Deep Reverence” MV

The Grammy-nominated track appeared on ‘Detroit 2.’

Big Sean has shared a video for his Grammy-nominated track, “Deep Reverence.”

The Detroit native pays his respects to the song’s collaborator, the late Nipsey Hussle, in the Sergio-directed clip. Accompanied by Snoop Dogg and the record’s producer, Hit-Boy, Sean heads to Los Angeles where he visits murals, portraits and a basketball court honoring Nip.

“Deep Reverence” arrived in September on Sean’s fifth studio album, Detroit 2. Backed by a posthumous hook from Nipsey, the track finds Sean delving into deeply personal subject matter, such as his battle with depression, thoughts of suicide and more.

“This one of the most uncomfortable, honest songs I ever did,” Sean wrote on Instagram. “I said things on here I thought I’d never say publicly, but realized that u gotta live and own all your truths, cause u can’t always count on that opportunity to be there. To one of the realest, most solid humans ever made [Nipsey Hussle]! Thank you bro! You still blessing all of us! It’s deeper than 4Life it’s 4ever.”

“Deep Reverence” is up for Best Rap Performance at the upcoming 2021 Grammy Awards. Watch the video below:
