Big Sean links up with ex-girlfriend Jhené Aiko on “Single Again”

Also featuring Ty Dolla $ign.

Big Sean has released his second single in a week, “Single Again,” featuring Ty Dolla $ign and—interestingly—his ex-girlfriend Jhené Aiko.

On the upbeat track, produced by Cam O’bi and Dee Lilly, the rapper preaches the importance of self-love before jumping into a relationship. “I’m single again / Told her we’ll be better off friends / Maybe I should just focus on me / And slow down, don’t rush romance,” he duets with Aiko on the chorus, while Ty provides melodic ad libs.

“I never knew that I didn’t know how to be alone in life. I always would find so much joy and happiness in a relationship or being with friends, but I didn’t know how important it was to be in a relationship with yourself,” the Def Jam rapper wrote in a series of tweets. “There’s beauty in being your own source of happiness and fun and working on yourself. That’s the process I been going through personally and it can be a scary thing.”

“Single Again” follows Sean’s first solo song since 2017, “Overtime,” which he unveiled last Wednesday. On the other hand, Aiko previously dropped “Triggered (Freestyle)” in May.
