Benny the Butcher unveils new album, ‘Burden of Proof’

The star-studded LP features Rick Ross, Lil Wayne, Big Sean and more.

Benny the Butcher has released his second studio album, Burden of Proof.

The 12-track effort was entirely produced by Hit-Boy, and features collaborations with Rick Ross, Freddie Gibbs, Dom Kennedy and Queen Naija, alongside his Griselda Records labelmates Conway the Machine and Westside Gunn. Lil Wayne and Big Sean also appear on the previously released track “Timeless.” The LP also dropped alongside a flashy video for “Legends,” which captures Benny performing in front of a giant US flag.

“If you understand the meaning [of the album’s title], it’s one trying to prove their assertion; and that’s what I’m doing with this album,” Benny said in a statement. “This is the validation of what I have been saying all this time about Griselda, BSF, Benny the Butcher, coming to fruition. The burden of proof always lies with me.”

Speaking of the song “Timeless,” Benny said that “it was dope working with Wayne and Big Sean.” He added: “I have so much respect for their talents. I have respect for everything they are doing. Wayne is one of the GOATS. It’s a good thing to be on a track with those guys trading bars.”

Burden of Proof is the latest in a busy year from Benny, who previously released Gangsta Grillz X BSF Da Respected Sopranos, a joint mixtape with DJ Drama. Earlier in the year, he also teamed up with producer Daringer on “Deal or No Deal.”
