The rapper sustained gunshot wounds to his leg.

Benny the Butcher was shot in the leg during an attempted robbery in Houston, Texas this past weekend.

According to Billboard, the Griselda rapper and two other people had been in a Walmart parking lot when a group of men approached them and “demanded their jewelry.” Police reported that the men opened fire after Benny attempted to flee the scene.

While the other two victims were unharmed, the rapper suffered gunshot wounds to his leg and was later brought to the hospital for treatment. Police say they are currently searching for suspects and investigations are underway. No other details surrounding the shooting have been released.

Shortly after the incident, Benny uploaded to Instagram Stories a video of himself boarding a plane with crutches, assuring fans that he was doing well.

Fellow Griselda Records rapper Westside Gunn also shared an update by uploading a photo of Benny chilling in a reclining chair with his bandaged leg propped up. “usually wouldn’t even post this but Buzz went From the hospital to a Private Jet to smoking Butchers Breath with me….” Gunn wrote on Instagram.

Just last month, Benny dropped his sophomore album, Burden of Proof. It was produced entirely by Hit-Boy and featured appearances from Rick Ross, Freddie Gibbs, Lil Wayne, Big Sean and others. The rapper also recently jumped on “Wave Blues,” a collaboration with French Montana.
