Benny the Butcher, 38 Spesh join forces for ‘Trust the Sopranos’

With features from El Camino, Klass Murda, Ransom and more.

Benny the Butcher and 38 Spesh have taken their creative relationship to a whole new level with their new joint album Trust the Sopranos.

Benny’s Black Soprano Family group and Spesh’s Trust Gang have teamed up on the ten-song compilation, which features talent from both camps. Besides Benny and Spesh themselves, also present are El Camino, Klass Murda, Ransom, Ampichino, Heem, Rick Hyde, Che Noir and Chase Fetti.

The album marks Black Soprano Family’s second full-length effort, following the collective’s 2020 mixtape with DJ Drama, Da Respected Sopranos. As for Trust Gang, Trust the Sopranos is the first time that the Rochester-based group has appeared together on a full-length project.

Benny and Spesh have been collaborating for years. The two New York natives were initially connected through the late DJ Shay and recorded music together in Buffalo. “We immediately clicked and just started making music together. This was about 15 years ago,” Spesh told Above Average Hip Hop last year.

Benny has also been prolific on the solo front, dropping the mixtape The Plugs I Met 2 with Harry Fraud in March and the album Burden of Proof last year. Meanwhile, 38 Spesh dropped his album Interstate 38 in January.
