Bad Bunny to make acting debut in new season of ‘Narcos: Mexico’

He is set to play a member of the gang ‘Narco Juniors.’

Bad Bunny will make his acting debut in the upcoming season of Netflix’s Narcos: Mexico.

Netflix confirmed that the rapper—whose real name is Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio—is one of the several new additions to the third season of its popular drug cartel series, per The Hollywood Reporter. He will be joined by actors Luis Gerardo Méndez, Alberto Guerra, Luisa Rubino and others.

According to the official description, Ocasio will play Arturo “Kitty” Paez, a member of the ‘Narco Juniors,’ a gang of “rich, well-connected kids from upper society who fell in with the cartel life for the money, drugs and violence.”

The rapper had previously teased his guest appearance on the show during an interview with Rolling Stone in May. Back then, Bad Bunny revealed that he started shooting his scenes for the series right after his performance at the Super Bowl halftime show with Jennifer Lopez, Shakira and J Balvin, before filming was paused due to the pandemic.

The third season of Narcos: Mexico will pick up after former protagonist Diego Luna’s exit as Felix Gallardo. The returning cast members will be led by Scoot McNairy, alongside Walt Breslin, José María Yázpik, Alfonso Dosal and Mayra Hermosillo.

A release date for the upcoming Narcos: Mexico season has not yet been announced. Stay tuned for more details.
