“Back That Azz Up” turned into pro-vaccine PSA

Watch Juvenile, Mannie Fresh and Mia X rap “Vax That Thang Up.”

Juvenile has dropped “Vax That Thang Up,” a COVID-themed rework of his 1999 hit “Back That Azz Up.” The track also features original collaborator Mannie Fresh as well as new guest Mia X.

“Girl, you looks good, won’t you vax that thang up / You’s a handsome young brother, won’t you vax that thang up / Date in real life you need to vax that thang up / Feeling freaky all night you need to vax that thang up,” the rapper spits on the infectious hook.

The updated track is a clear PSA calling on people to get vaccinated for COVID-19. “I just wanted to do something positive for my people and to stand in the front to show that I’m willing to sacrifice my life not just for me but also for my family,” Juvenile said of the remix. “We don’t know what we’re facing right now but we really do all need to be vaccinated so we can continue to do our thing and survive.”

On Twitter, Mia X has further encouraged Americans to get vaccinated. “I knew that many people who are either anti vaccine or not completely comfortable with taking this one would be mad after seeing the commercial,” she wrote. “I am vaccinated. The death toll in New Orleans last year and my underlying health issues are the reasons why I decided to get it.”

The song is presented by BLK, a dating app made for Black singles. “Dating is better in all the ways once you’re vaccinated,” BLK declares on its website.
