Angel Haze has returned with a brand-new single called “Weight.”
On it, Haze reflects on overcoming past struggles while warning her haters not to mess with the new her. “Thought a l’il pressure was gone push me to the limit / Bitch I died, bitch I cried / Then I rose up ’cause the suffering was written / Now I’m daring any motherfucker feeling brave,” Haze spits.
“When I or anyone else listens to ‘Weight,’ I want them to partake in the experience. Every single instrument is a testament to strength and color. It is about how we grow our power,” Haze said of the song in a press statement.
“It’s about where to and how we carry everything we’ve had to survive, and then repurposing that energy,” she added. “It took me quite some time to realise my weight, but now I’m too strong to hold. You will be too.”
In the accompanying visual, Haze rides confidently through the city, brandishing a menacing machine gun. The video also features trippy edits and special effects, as well as scenes of the rapper running through a forest.
