Aminé reps his city in video for “Shimmy”

The song samples “Shimmy Shimmy Ya” by the late Ol’ Dirty Bastard.

Aminé is back with a video for his first release of 2020, “Shimmy.”

For the accompanying video, co-directed by Aminé and Jack Begert, the rapper returns to his hometown of Portland, Oregon. He takes us on a tour of his old stomping grounds, including Providence Park stadium, the residential neighborhood of Woodland Park and the Burnside Bridge.

“Shimmy shimmy ya, y’all n***as get no applause / I’m lookin’ like wealth, so mami wanna ménage / Y’all n***as really hatin’, get off my dick and my balls,” Aminé spits on the chorus, over a sample of the late Ol’ Dirty Bastard’s 1995 hit “Shimmy Shimmy Ya.”
