Yaeji expands her sound on ‘What We Drew 우리가 그려왔던’

The Korean-American producer’s new mixtape is her longest release to date.

Yaeji has released a new mixtape, What We Drew 우리가 그려왔던, which showcases her expanding sonic palette.

What We Drew comes three years after the Korean-American producer’s breakout release, EP2, which featured her best-known songs “Raingurl” and “Passionfruit” (the latter a cover of Drake’s More Life cut).

At 12 tracks, the new mixtape is the longest Yaeji release to date. It’s also her most collaborative, with guest spots from Nappy Nina, Lil Fayo, YonYon and more—a move that makes sense given the project is “so much about friendship, family, gratitude and support that I’ve felt, that I’ve given, and that we all share,” she said in a statement.

Yaeji previewed What We Drew with whimsical videos for “Waking Up Down” and the title track. But it’s the other cuts on the mixtape, like “In Place 그 자리 그대로” and “Never Settling Down,” that best display her efforts to incorporate other beguiling sounds into her brand of fluid house.
