Manchester producer Andy Stott has shared a music video directed by Rebecca Salvadori for his spacey new single, “Hard to Tell.”
Stott’s latest single is the second preview of his first album in five years, Never the Right Time. On “Hard to Tell,” Stott employs psychedelic guitar strums, hushed melodies coated in reverb and cosmic synth notes. Frequent collaborator Alison Skidmore returns to contribute vocals after appearing on a number of his previous releases, including his previous single “The Beginning.”
The music video accompanying Stott’s atmospheric single blends tranquil visuals of dancer Lewis Walker’s fluid movements with visions of a city at night.
Per a press release, Stott had finished most of Never the Right Time at the start of 2020 but chose to spend the remainder of the year rounding out the nine compositions. The LP will follow Stott’s 2019 double EP It Should Be Us as his first full-length album since his 2016 release Too Many Voices.
Never the Right Time will be released on April 16 via Modern Love. Watch the video for “Hard to Tell” here:
