Skrillex is back with “Midnight Hour,” featuring Ty Dolla $ign and German producer Boys Noize. It’s his first single in two years.

The bouncy house song opens slowly, with Ty crooning soulfully over piano chords about relationship woes. “I did my best, wasn’t good for you / I wish the best for both of you / Family and friends, they are close to you / Damn it’s so hard to get over you,” he sings. The track then dives headfirst into an infectious soundscape of percussion and laser-esque synths, weaving in samples of Yung Miami’s vocals from City Girl’s “Act Up.”

“Midnight Hour” is Skrillex’s first single since 2017’s “Would You Ever,” featuring Poo Bear. Last month, he surprise-released the two-song EP, Show Tracks. The DJ has also kept himself busy with a slew of collaborations, including “Face My Fears” with Utada Hikaru and “Warlordz” with Troyboi.
