SG Lewis drops debut album ‘Times’

His first studio album, released following his ‘Dusk,’ ‘Dark’ and ‘Dawn’ EP trilogy.

After a steady delivery of EPs over the last six years, British producer SG Lewis has released his debut album, Times.

The producer walked a long road on the way to releasing Times, offering fans blockbuster collaborations with Chic’s legendary leader Nile Rodgers, Rhye and Lucky Daye on “One More,” “Time” and “Feed the Fire,” respectively. Lewis also teased fans with the feel-good disco track “Impact” featuring Robyn and Channel Tres.

“It’s very surreal when you’re in a room with someone like that. He’s a legend, there’s no other way around it!” Lewis recalled of collaborating with Rodgers in an interview with NME. “He has such a powerful artistic identity that anything that he’s involved in immediately has his stamp… It’s up there with the top five best moments of my life, just watching Nile Rodgers rip guitar on something that I’d created.”

For the most part, Times effortlessly delivers euphoric house tracks that are certain to permeate club sets for the foreseeable future. To close the album with “Fall,” Lewis eschews infectious dance sounds of previous tracks, offering a melancholic piano progression with hushed vocals amid shimmers of percussion and strings.

Times follows Lewis’ EP triptych of Dusk, Dark, Dawn. The trilogy was released over 2018 and 2019 as a concept piece representing the progression of a big night spent partying.
