Petit Biscuit taps JP Cooper for new single, “We Were Young”

A song years in the making.

French producer Mehdi Benjelloun—better known as Petit Biscuit—has dropped off a summery new single, “We Were Young,” featuring JP Cooper.

The song, driven by a pulsating bassline and hand claps, is filled with saccharine hooks. “What a day, what a day, what a morning / When I realize I was cautious but I’m guilty / I’m in love,” Cooper sings on the chorus.

In an interview with Billboard Dance, Petit explained that he began working on “We Were Young” long before he released his 2017 debut EP, Presence. But the song finally came together when Cooper decided to hop on the track. “‘We Were Young’ really is a big blend of my pop and electronic influences, even going to gospel on the choruses,” Petit said. “Working together with JP on the different vocal parts of the track was a real pleasure. His particular tone brought a lot of freshness to my electronic production.”

“We Were Young” is a follow-up to Petit’s February single, “Wide Awake.” Listen to his new song below:
