Oneohtrix Point Never unveils video for “Lost But Never Alone”

The producer teamed up with the directors of ‘Uncut Gems.’

After releasing his album Magic Oneohtrix Point Never last month, Daniel Lopatin—the man behind Oneohtrix Point Never—has returned with a thought-provoking music video for his single “Lost But Never Alone.”

Lopatin enlisted award-winning filmmakers Josh and Benny Safdie to direct the surreal visual, which pairs the ’80s-inspired track with vintage TV and movie clips, stitched together to tell a bizarre story.

“Nostalgia is both warming and deeply depressing,” Josh Safdie said in a statement. “It’s a love/hate relationship. Emotions themselves are haunting. [‘Lost But Never Alone’] is a haunted piece of surfing-a screen-capture of our desire to pull meaning from the past at all times and the triumph of breaking through it with something else.”

The Safdie brothers previously worked with Lopatin on their films Uncut Gems (2020) and Good Time (2017), as well as the music video for the Oneohtrix Point Never track “The Pure and the Damned.”

Lopatin also recently performed the Magic Oneohtrix Point Never track “I Don’t Love Me Anymore” on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
