An official biography of the late producer Avicii has been announced for release in November.
Avicii—real name Tim Bergling—took his own life in 2018, two years after retiring from music due to health problems. His third and final studio album Tim was posthumously released in 2019 with all profits from its sale benefitting the mental health awareness charity founded in his memory, the Tim Bergling Foundation.
Tim: The Official Biography of Avicii was written by Swedish journalist Måns Mosesson, who retraced the Swedish DJ/producer’s steps across Ibiza, Los Angeles, Miami and his hometown of Sweden. The journalist interviewed Bergling’s family and friends to help accurately portray the musician and his struggles with addiction and mental health.
In keeping with the release of the posthumous album, Avicii’s estate will redirect their proceeds from the book to the Tim Bergling Foundation.
Last year, a museum commemorating Avicii’s life was announced in Stockholm. Called Avicii Experience, it is set to display memorabilia, unreleased music and unseen visual media collected throughout his career. It is slated to open in 2021, though no specific date has been confirmed just yet.
