Octo Octa releases new album, ‘Resonant Body’

A club-ready LP crafted in nature.

DJ and producer Maya Bouldry-Morrison has shared Resonant Body, her third studio album as Octo Octa. It follows her 2017 record, Where are We Going?.

Released last Friday, Resonant Body offers eight dancefloor-ready yet undeniably dreamy tracks. This is a record for heaving clubs and raves, even though Bouldry-Morrison recorded it in a remote cabin in New Hampshire.

“Spin Girl, Let’s Activate!” struts along to a strong acid house beat, repeatedly calling for everyone to “get on the floor and do it, get on the floor and ride that booty.” Album opener “Imminent Spirit Arrival” fringes on ambient industrial at times, filtering the aggression of Crystal Castles and The Prodigy through Bouldry-Morrison’s own spacey taste.

According to Octo Octa’s Bandcamp, half of the profits from Resonant Body will be donated to the Sylvia Rivera Law Project. The US organization “works to guarantee that all people are free to self-determine their gender identity and expression, regardless of income or race, and without facing harassment, discrimination or violence.”
