Miami duo Basside have announced the release of Fuck it Up, a new EP which was produced by the late SOPHIE.
Que Linda and Caro Loka had released the SOPHIE remix of their track “NYC2MIA” last month in honor of the producer, who died on January 30. They pledged all proceeds from the remix to the Sylvia Rivera Law Project, a New York City organization that aims to guarantee that all people are “free to self-determine their gender identity and expression, regardless of income or race, and without facing harassment, discrimination, or violence.”
Basside explained last month that they had been sitting on SOPHIE’s “NYC2MIA” remix for a while: “We had a few road bumps that made it difficult for us, and we kind of just felt like we had all the time in the world. The tragic passing of SOPHIE has made us realise that time is precious, and waiting for a hypothetical future we know nothing about is the wrong way to live. All we have is the present.”
They’ve since followed up by announcing the Fuck it Up EP—which was entirely produced by SOPHIE—and releasing its title track. Basside recorded the six tracks on the EP with SOPHIE in 2016, after the producer saw the duo perform at Miami’s III Points Festival and invited them to her Los Angeles studio.
Fuck it Up will be released April 2. Hear the “NYC2MIA” remix and “Fuck it Up” below:
