Martin Garrix, John Martin collaborate on “Higher Ground”

A hopeful tune released on the Dutch DJ’s birthday.

Dutch DJ Martin Garrix has teamed up with Swedish singer John Martin for a brand-new single, “Higher Ground,” which dropped on Garrix’s birthday (May 14).

The song boasts a hopeful message that perfectly captures the ongoing coronavirus pandemic and the toll it has taken on people forced to be apart.

“Deep in my bones / I know I’m not there but I’m close / I’ll find my way back to a higher ground / Yeah, I just want to feel alive with you,” Martin sings on this uplifting track.

A feel-good monochromatic music video also accompanied the release. It features clips from weddings, graduations, skydives and other joyous occasions. Footage of Garrix and Martin recording the song is also included in the video.

This collab marks the second time both acts have worked together. In 2016, Garrix enlisted Martin and Michel Zitron for the song “Now That I’ve Found You.”

In the past year, Garrix has collaborated with several other artists, including Michel Zitron (“Hold On”), Dean Lewis (“Used to Love”), Bonn (“Home”), JRM (“These are the Times”) and more.
