Major Lazer get “Tied Up” with Mr Eazi, Raye

Get your daily dose of dancehall.

Following the release of Major Lazer’s Babes Wodumo-assisted single “Orkant/Balance Pon It,” the electronic dance music outfit have returned with a new song, “Tied Up,” featuring Mr Eazi and Raye.

It’s a laid-back track that seamlessly layers the featured singers’ soothing vocals over a dancehall-inflected rhythm. The song opens with a fingerpicking guitar melody as Mr Eazi enters with his unmistakable voice, daydreaming about his lady love: “Say me I don’t know why / But me never stop thinking about you.”

English R&B artist Raye jumps in on the second half with her own verse, and then the singers finally meet on the chorus to ask: “Can we got this thing tied up?”

The drop was accompanied by a music video directed by Adriaan Louw (who also directed the visual for “Orkant/Balance Pon It”), and it takes a look at the energetic street and youth culture in Accra, Ghana. So expect plenty of dancing and jaw-dropping motorcycle stunts in this one.

In other news, Diplo has recently confirmed Major Lazer’s disbandment. In an interview with Complex, the superproducer announced that the trio, which formed in 2008, will drop their final album together next year.
