Listen to Loraine James’ eclectic new album, ‘For You and I’

“I’m in love and wanted to share that in some way.”

English producer Loraine James has released her sophomore album, For You and I.

The eclectic 11-track record, which draws on jazz, electronica, UK drill and grime, is the musician’s first release on London-based label Hyperdub. The LP features the previously released singles “Sick 9” and “London Ting // Dark as Fuck.”

“I’m in love and wanted to share that in some way. I wanted to make songs that reflect layers of my relationship,” James said in a statement released on her Bandcamp page. “A lot of the time I’m really scared [of] displaying any kind of affection in public… This album is more about feeling than about using certain production skills.”

For You and I is James’ follow-up to her 2018 debut Detail. Earlier this year, she released a four-track EP, Button Mashing.
