Louis the Child have teamed up with BabyJake for their latest track “Somewhere Else.”
The exuberant song arrived with a cinematic visual, directed by Chase O’Black, that captures the breathtaking scenery of Mammoth Mountain in California. The clip’s storyline starts off with BabyJake—real name Jake Herring—hitting rock bottom before finding catharsis, courtesy of a television ad.
The narrative mirrors BabyJake’s opening lines on “Somewhere Else”: “I was sniffin’ cracker out of C-notes / Kickin’ back a dollar just so I could reach the remote / Thank God I’m on better things, knockin’ down my free throws / Done with playin’ Hollywood, I gave away my ego.”
In October, Louis the Child dropped a 19-track mixtape in the form of Candy II. It followed the release of their debut album Here for Now that featured collaborations with Foster the People, singer Vera Blue and Canadian duo Bob Moses.
BabyJake, on the other hand, released the Don’t Give Me Problems, Give Me Wine EP in July. More recently, he linked up with Dillon Francis for “Touch” and “You Do You.”
