Kode9 to drop remix EP dedicated to Japanese video game music

The Hyperdub head honcho has shared a new track.

Hyperdub founder Kode9 has announced Diggin’ in the Carts Kode9 Remixes, a new EP collecting remixes of Japanese video game compositions. He’s also shared his remix of Koichi Ishibashi’s “Bad Data,” originally off the soundtrack of early ’90s game Dezaemon.

The compositions remixed on the four-track release feature on Diggin’ in the Carts, a 2017 Hyperdub compilation of pioneering Japanese video game music. Besides “Bad Data,” Kode9 has also retooled “Mister Diviner” by Soshi Hosoi from The Mahjong Toukiden, “Temple” by Yuzo Koshiro from Actraiser and “An-Un (Ominous Clouds”) by Tadahiro Nitta from Xak II.

Diggin’ in the Carts Kode9 Remixes is due out May 3. Stream Kode9’s remix of “Bad Data” here:
