Kayzo releases “Wasted Space” with Underoath

Electronic and metal collide.

Kayzo is very quickly building a rep as the go-to guy for rock-electronic hybrids—just take “Wasted Space,” his new collaboration with Underoath.

At first, the track sounds like it could’ve been lifted straight from the metalcore band’s most recent album. Powerful clean vocals by Aaron Gillespie? Check. Thrashing chords? Check. Moody lyrics? Check.

But once Gillespie and Spencer Chamberlain unleash on the chorus, Kayzo’s window-shattering drop kicks in, taking “Wasted Space” in an entirely new direction. From there, the track bounces aggressively between the two genres. It’s one hell of a ride.
