Jimmy Edgar has released the new album, Cheetah Bend.
Coming nearly nine years after his last solo record, Majenta, the new 14-track album features a slew of guests, from rappers Danny Brown, 24hrs, Matt Ox and B La B (who collaborated with Edgar on the 2020 joint album Who I Be) to fellow electronic musicians Hudson Mohawke and the late SOPHIE.
Edgar has since dedicated Cheetah Bend to SOPHIE, with whom he worked on modal synthesis prior to the artist’s passing. “SOPHIE and I spent time together trading files, sounds and techniques, developing a new kind of version of modal synthesis,” Edgar said in a statement.
