Jessy Lanza has tapped a number of her Hyperdub labelmates and other producers to remix seven tracks from her album All the Time for a new mixtape.
Titled 24/7, Lanza’s mixtape is led by a remix of “Alexander” from Japanese producer Foodman. Set to footage of a seemingly sleepy country intersection and an infinite number of beige vans, Foodman’s remix is loaded with a whimsical array of percussive sounds and frenetic rhythm. The rush of chopped vocals quickly consumes the majority of the producer’s rework, filling the soundscape with intricate layers of melody.
Joining Foodman on 24/7 are future labelmates Proc Fiskal and Loraine James, who are both signed to Hyperdub alongside Lanza. Martyn Bootyspoon tackles “Like Fire” while DJ Swisha reimagines “All the Time.” Meanwhile, Russian producer Kate NV’s version of “Baby Love” bridges the gap between Lanza’s modern production and Janet Jackson’s classic ’80s sound.
All the Time arrived in July this year as Lanza’s first album to follow 2016’s Oh No. Watch the visual for Foodman’s remix of “Alexander” here:
