James Blake returns with clubby new EP, ‘Before’

He’ll debut material from it in a set for Boiler Room.

James Blake has returned with a new EP, Before.

The four-track release is the English producer’s first project since his 2019 album Assume Form, though he’s stayed busy since then collaborating with Flatbush Zombies and slowthai.

Before is also one of the most club-oriented releases from Blake in recent memory. Per Pitchfork, in a statement he described the EP as the result of “finally having the confidence to put my own voice on dancefloor rhythms.”

Blake will be debuting songs from the EP in a set for Boiler Room—his first appearance on the party series since 2013. Find more details of his set on October 16 here.
