Jacques Greene announces new album with “Do it Without You”

Jacques Greene has announced his new album Dawn Chorus by dropping a mid-tempo ambient club tune, “Do it Without You.”

The Canadian producer’s sophomore album, Dawn Chorus, represents a stylistic shift for Greene. “Instead of sampling R&B vocals, I was trying to sample studio mythologies and mindsets,” he said in a press release.

This change of pace is evident in “Do it Without You”: Greene opts to build an atmosphere and shift gears throughout the song, letting the titular vocal sample ebb and flow rather than centering it as the sole focus.

An intriguing range of collaborators helped shape Dawn Chorus, including acclaimed film composer Brian Reitzell (Lost in Translation, Friday Night Lights, Stranger Than Fiction), producer Clams Casino, ambient artist Julianna Barwick and cellist Oliver Coates. Greene’s previously released track, “Night Service” featuring Cadence Weapon, appears on the record.

Dawn Chorus arrives October 18 via LuckyMe. Stream “Do it Without You” below:
