Four Tet drops fan favorite “Only Human”

The propulsive track samples Nelly Furtado.

Four Tet has dropped a new song, “Only Human.” It arrives under his moniker KH, which are his initials (the English producer’s real name is Kieran Hebden).

The dancefloor-ready tune samples Nelly Furtado’s 2006 song, “Afraid,” which Hebden had heard playing in his kitchen, he said in a statement. Struck by her chanting vocal at the end of the song, he made “Only Human” that same day.

The track took off in Hebden’s DJ sets, as well as sets by Ben UFO, Peggy Gou and others. Hebden ultimately contacted the label Ministry of Sound to get the song a proper release, teasing the drop in late February after the sample was cleared.
