Floating Points drops stellar new track, “LesAlpx”

The producer’s first release since 2017.

Floating Points—aka Sam Shepherd—has released “LesAlpx,” the A-side from his forthcoming 12-inch single, LesAlpx / Coorabell.

The track weaves together hypnotic synthesizer melodies, a thumping bassline and four-on-the-floor house beats. The result: a rave-worthy banger that sounds like it came straight out of a sci-fi thriller.

“I started going back to my early records and all the sounds I loved playing at clubs like Fabric and Plastic People,” Shepherd explained in a press statement about the single. “I wanted to capture the immediacy of that music and the feeling that I got when I was on the dancefloor, of being immersed in a track that pulls you along instantly.”

“LesAlpx” is the producer’s newest release since 2017’s “Ratio.” Together with B-side “Coorabell,” the single arrives July 12 via Ninja Tune.
