Five new electronic music drops from this week (3/11-3/17)

Check out these new releases from Marshmello, Josh Pan and Holly Herndon.

Each week, we pick the newest electronic music tracks, albums and music videos to have on your radar. Here are our favorites:

“Here With Me” by Marshmello, CHVRCHES

For their very first collaboration together, Marshmello and CHVRCHES opted for an upbeat synth pop ballad in the same vein as Mello’s 2018 chart-smasher, “Happier.” “Here With Me” spotlights a lovesick Lauren Mayberry, whose pristine vocals are front and center.

“Eternal” by Holly Herndon

Holly Herndon has announced her new artificial intelligence-assisted album Proto, with the futuristic lead single, “Eternal,” which features heavily processed folk singing. The record features human collaborators like Jlin and Martine Syms, but also Spawn, Herndon’s AI ‘baby.’

“We Got to Try” by the Chemical Brothers

The Chemical Brothers continue to tease their forthcoming LP, No Geography, with a brand-new single, “We Got to Try.” The track starts out cheerful, with a soulful voice singing over a funky beat, before it plunges into gnarly techno territory. It arrived alongside a rather peculiar visual, which charts a dog’s adventure to space.

“50-50” MV by Toro Y Moi

Toro Y Moi’s “50-50” is the latest cut off Outer Peace to receive the visual treatment. In the clip, Chaz Bear finds himself stranded in the middle of a desert. He later discovers a mysterious silver mask which transports him to a trippy alternate world when he puts it on.

This Car Needs Some Wheels by Josh Pan, Dylan Brady

OWSLA labelmates Josh Pan and Dylan Brady have teamed up to drop their newest joint effort, This Car Needs Some Wheels. On their 11-track project, both Pan—a seasoned producer—and Brady—a rising country-pop artist—step out of their comfort zones. Lewis Grant, the sole guest on the album, appears on “Brain” and LP closer, “Save the World.”
