Ela Minus drops debut album ‘Acts of Rebellion’

Politically minded techno pop.

Gabriela Jimeno has dropped her first album as Ela Minus: Acts of Rebellion.

The Colombia-born, Brooklyn-based producer, who has a background in punk, hardcore and jazz, serves a diverse range of electronic soundscapes and textures across the album’s ten tracks. The record’s political roots also manifest sonically, with “Megapunk” rallying listeners with chorus calls of “you won’t make us stop.”

“The spirit of rebellion behind the album is always relevant,” Jimeno told Pitchfork. “The need for revolution has always been there. With this record, I wanted to take a little bit more responsibility for my place in the world.”
