DJ Koze drops disco-inspired cut, “Pick up”

A sample of Gladys Knight and the Pips drives the third single off the German DJ’s forthcoming 'Knock, Knock' LP.

After dropping “Seeing Aliens” and “Illumination,” DJ Koze yesterday shared the third and final tease for his Knock, Knock LP. But unlike those two tracks, “Pick up” is a soulful, disco-tinged choon that just sounds like summer.

A vocal sample of Gladys Knight and the Pips’ soul classic from the ’70s, “Neither One of Us,” gives the cut an infectious, melodic vibe. The German DJ’s breezy groove is at once low-key and fit for the dancefloor—a quality Koze has demonstrated in many of his Kompakt releases. It’s not tough to imagine DJs mixing this into their beach party sets.

Knock, Knock arrives on May 4 via Koze’s own Pampa records. Check out “Pick up” here:
