Darkside release new single “The Limit”

The reunited duo have also officially announced their new album ‘Spiral.’

Nicolas Jaar and Dave Harrington have dropped “The Limit,” their latest single as Darkside.

Thick with rhythmic percussion and syncopated synths, “The Limit” arrives as the second single from Darkside’s upcoming album Spiral. It comes eight years since the duo released Psychic, their debut album and only full-length to date. Jaar and Harrington announced Darkside would go on hiatus in 2014.

The duo broke their years-long silence by releasing their live recording Psychic Live in November last year, following up with Spiral lead single “Liberty Bell” at the end of 2020.

“From the beginning, Darkside has been our jam band. Something we did on days off. When we reconvened, it was because we really couldn’t wait to jam together again,” Jaar said in a statement.

Harrington agreed with his bandmate, adding that it felt like it was the right time to reform Darkside. “We do things in this band that we would never do on our own,” he said. “Darkside is the third being in the room that just kind of occurs when we make music together.”

Both artists were busy in their time apart. Jaar released two albums as Against All Logic and five other LPs under his own name. Harrington collaborated with an extensive list of artists including Joe Russo, Yuka Honda and Angel Deradoorian in addition to releasing two albums with the Dave Harrington Group.

Spiral will arrive on July 23 via Matador Records. Listen to “The Limit” here:
