Clark releases haunting new album, ‘Kiri Variations’

Leftovers from his soundtrack for Hulu’s ‘Kiri’ series.

British producer Clark has unveiled his ninth studio album, Kiri Variations.

On the LP, the musician trades his signature IDM sound for cinematic textures and chamber orchestration. Eerie and whimsical at the same time, the record explores the themes of woodland mystery, gothic horror and childhood innocence.

“I want people to listen to this in the same way they would read a set of Roald Dahl short stories,” Clark explained in a press statement. “[Bittersweet] tales with hooks and teeth and unexpected macabre twists. Proper witch vibes.”

Kiri Variations came together after the producer was enlisted to soundtrack the Hulu mini-series, Kiri. When most of the tracks did not make it to the show, he decided to rework them into a separate album instead.
