Chvrches are hoping for a “Miracle”

The latest track from the Scottish trio’s forthcoming album ‘Love is Dead’ is a synth-filled preview of things to come.

If you weren’t around when Chvrches dropped their new singles over the past few months, then this is for you. The Scottish trio yesterday shared “Miracle,” the fourth teaser for their upcoming album, Love is Dead.

“Miracle” sees the band move away from the coy indietronica of their earlier work and towards a bigger, poppier sound. Lauren Mayberry opens the track with her soul-searching, lilting vocals, ushering in the bouncing beats and harmonic-packed synths that have become the outfit’s hallmarks. And when Mayberry breaks out of the pre-chorus with howls and ‘millennial whoops,’ you’ll be chanting the line to yourself in the shower for weeks to come.

According to Chvrches, Love is Dead will be the “the most pop stuff we’ve ever done.” Mayberry explained that the album is about “coming to terms with the fact that there are great things in the world and there are awful things in the world, and that you can’t get one without the other.”
