Calvin Harris debuts new alias with two nostalgic tracks

Meet the Love Regenerator.

Calvin Harris has returned with two fresh tracks under his brand-new moniker Love Regenerator.

Titled “Hypnagogic (I Can’t Wait)” and “CP-1,” the songs are “inspired by early rave, breaks, techno and house, the music I was obsessed with growing up,” Harris said in a press statement. “I wanted to rediscover the way I originally began producing music 22 years ago before I ever thought about how it might be perceived by outside forces. Just pure fun and experimentation with what sounded good to me,” he added.

The erratic, synth-driven tracks recall ’90s acid house with a slightly modern twist. “I’ve done everything I can to make them sound like they’ve come from a 1991 time capsule,” Harris said. “Every synth and sound used is from that time period.”

“Hypnagogic (I Can’t Wait)” and “CP-1” are Harris’ first new releases in over a year. In 2018, he dropped a slew of singles including “I Found You/Nilda’s Story,” “Promises,” “Check List” and “Slow Down.” The English producer’s last album, Funk Wav Bounces Vol 1, arrived in 2017.
