Yodeling Walmart boy shares first official track, “Famous”

It didn’t take long for Mason Ramsey to go from meme sensation to Coachella alum to bona fide country artist.

By now, everyone would’ve heard of Mason Ramsey, the 11-year-old boy who conjured meme magic with his impromptu yodeling performance at a Walmart store. Well, that turned out to be only the start for the undoubtedly talented kid.

Ramsey announced last week that he has signed to Atlantic Records and Big Loud, and he’s dropped his debut single, “Famous.” Produced by Corey Crowder and Joey Moi, the tune is—surprise, surprise—actually pretty damn good. The budding singer’s lilting vocals, emotional resonance and wide-eyed innocence combine beautifully, and you can already tell he’s on to something.

The single follows Ramsey’s cameo at Coachella, where he performed the song that rocketed him to meme stardom, Hank Williams’ “Lovesick Blues.” Check out his earworm of a track here:
