Wynonna Judd has unveiled her new cover EP, Recollections.
The project, which the singer worked on with her husband and fellow musician Cactus Moser, features covers of classic songs by the dearly departed John Prine (“Angel From Montgomery”), Nina Simone (“Feeling Good”) and more. In addition, she enlisted the Grateful Dead’s Bob Weir on a cover of the band’s 1972 song “Ramble on Rose.”
Recollections was recorded in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, while she was quarantining on her farm in Tennessee. “I’ve learned a lot being at home these last few months,” Wynonna explained in a statement. “When there’s no touring, no concerts, no band, no lights, no action, all that’s left is you and the song. All that’s left is your gift.”
The EP is Wynonna’s first release since 2016’s Wynonna & the Big Noise, and also her first on new label Anti- Records.
