Following the release of her debut album Reckless last month, Morgan Wade has dropped a music video for the single “Wilder Days.”
Stacked with softly overdriven electric guitars and soaring choruses, “Wilder Days” tells an emotional tale of the singer’s wistful love for an older man. The music video renders that story, casting actor-musician Josh Jakub as Wade’s older, mellowed love interest. In the clip, the musician idly imagines what it would have been like to meet her flame in his “wilder days,” resulting in a dream sequence that sees them drinking and dancing at Santa’s Pub dive bar in Nashville.
Reckless was produced by Jason Isbell and his bandmate Sadler Vaden from The 400 Unit. Wade shared that her debut LP was inspired in part by Tom Petty’s first album, 1989’s Full Moon Fever, which contained his hit songs “Runnin’ Down a Dream,” “Free Fallin’” and “I Won’t Back Down.”
“This is different than anything I’ve ever done before,” Wade said of Reckless in a statement. “It’s opened up a bunch of different lanes––and I’m proud of it. A lot of the songs are about figuring out what the hell I’m doing… Maybe record number two will be a little bit more about knowing who I am.”
