This year the Country Music Association brought together a slew of huge artists to perform for their Country Christmas special, including Tim McGraw, Little Big Town, Florida Georgia Line and more.
The one-hour festive special, which aired on Monday (November 30), was hosted by Thomas Rhett—who also performed during the event—and his wife Lauren Akins. Darius Rucker, who had hosted the CMA Awards last month, performed “What Child is This” with violinist Lindsey Stirling.
Tim McGraw delivered a moving rendition of Skip Ewing’s 1989 song “It Wasn’t His Child,” and Little Big Town (who united for an NPR Tiny Desk concert from home in October) picked “Christmas Time is Here.” Lady A performed two songs: “Little Saint Nick” and “Wonderful Christmastime.”
The special also featured an appearance by Florida Georgia Line, who sang “Lit This Year,” the holiday song they released in October. The performance comes after the duo publicly quashed speculation that they had broken up over political differences, putting to sleep rumors of a fallout that had begun swirling during the US Presidential Election.
