Tenille Townes celebrates female farmers on “In My Blood”

“Dedicated to the mothers and daughters who feed the nation.”

Tenille Townes has dropped a new song, “In My Blood,” which pays tribute to women who work in America’s agriculture industry.

The accompanying video for the country rock tune opens with a touching title card: “Dedicated to the mothers and daughters who feed the nation.” It then follows Townes as she lays down her vocals in the studio, backed by an all-female band and production crew. The visual also features portraits of the different generations of women farmers.

“It is an honor to have written this song with the heart of women in agriculture in mind,” Townes said in a press statement. “These are the women who inspire and shape all of us and it makes me think of the strong women in my life I grew up looking up to. The ones who made me believe anything is possible.”

The song’s release coincides with National Future Farmers of America Week. Earlier this month, Townes released her Road to the Lemonade Stand EP, which includes the songs “Jersey On The Wall (I’m Just Asking)” and “I Kept the Roses.”
