Rascal Flatts have released “How They Remember You,” the title track of their upcoming EP.
The country group’s new song comes as a surprise to fans, especially since the trio announced in January that they would break up after their Life is a Highway Tour, which was scheduled to kick off this month. However, like many others this year, the tour was canceled due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
On “How They Remember You”—written by Josh Osborne, Allen Shamblin and Marc Beeson—the group put life into perspective and highlight what’s most important to them.
“When it all comes down / It ain’t if, it’s how they remember you / When you’re down to your last dollar / Will you give or will you take? / When the stiff wind blows the hardest / Will you bend or will you break?” lead singer Gary LeVox belts on the reflective chorus. “You’re gonna leave a legacy, no matter what you do / It ain’t a question of if they will / It’s how they remember you.”
Last month, Rascal Flatts released a cover of Kenny Rogers’ “Through the Years.” Their last original song, “Back to Life,” was released in 2018. New dates for their Life is a Highway Tour have yet to be announced.
