Puss n Boots cover Dolly Parton’s “The Grass is Blue”

A touching rendition for Amazon Music.

Alt country trio Puss n Boots—aka Norah Jones, Sasha Dobson and Catherine Popper—have released a cover of Dolly Parton’s 1999 song “The Grass is Blue” for Amazon Music.

The group transform the sentimental bluegrass ballad into a slow-burning country rock tune. “But I’m perfectly fine / And I don’t miss you / The sky is green / And the grass is blue,” the trio harmonize on the chorus.

“The first time I ever heard the [song], it slayed me,” Jones said in a press release. “It was probably the most beautiful song I’d ever heard. I’ve always loved the harmonies on Dolly’s version of the song. Sonically, the harmonies are just insanely beautiful.”

Puss n Boots’ cover of “The Grass is Blue” is their first release since their 2014 debut album, No Fools, No Fun. Amazon Music previously enlisted Tenille Townes for a cover for Keith Urban’s “Stupid Boy.”
