TikTok star and country artist Priscilla Block has shared “Wish You Were the Whiskey,” the lead single of her freshly announced debut EP.
Block’s powerful vocals stand out atop roaring guitars in the choruses, while the verses lean towards country rock balladry. It’s a dynamic, heartfelt song designed to introduce listeners to an intimate side of the singer not seen on her previous playful releases.
“This EP is such a vulnerable side of who I am and where I’ve been,” she said in a statement. “It’s my story of falling apart in order to find myself again. I hope that when you hear these songs, they make you feel that it’s OK to not be perfect and realize that sometimes we need the lows to value the highs.” On Instagram, Block also revealed that she wrote “Wish You Were the Whiskey” with her friends in a house that was robbed twice in the same month.
The singer’s self-titled EP will arrive at the end of the month, just one day before her Grand Ole Opry debut on May 1. Priscilla Block follows the country artist’s rise to fame with her viral 2020 hits “Thick Thighs” and “PMS.”
Block’s eponymous debut EP will be released on April 30 via Mercury Nashville. Listen to “Wish You Were the Whiskey” below:
